How to Get to Gruyeres

Gruyères isn’t the easiest to get to, but it is definitely worth the trip! The closest international airport to Gruyères is Geneva Airport. From there it is a 1hr 20 min drive to Gruyères or a 2.5-3hr train ride.

The main train station is Gruyeres Train Station, and from there you can take the local city bus up the hill to the old town of Gruyères.

What to Do in Gruyeres

Gruyères is a beautiful medieval town in Switzerland!

It is an ancient walled village on the top of a hill with a 13th century fortress called Château de Gruyères. Information and tickets can be found here.

Ten minutes away from Gruyères, you can also visit Maison Cailler – the Cailler Chocolate Factory. Enjoy their amazing factory tour & learn how they make their famous chocolate.
